what’s involved in testing for breast cancer?

  6. JillC on January 20th, 2008 7:57 pm

well…women can get their breasts checked by a doctor at their yearly physical and then they can also get mammograms..which i heard is a little uncomfortable ….i haven’t gotten one yet but i always get checked by doctors

    Great episode.

My grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago. It’s been tough watching her go through it, the effects of chemo really really take a toll. But she’s healthier now than she has been in a long time, and seems to be feeling great. Even vacationed with her last year haha. So I guess what I wanted to say is for anyone who is, or knows someone who is fighting it… keep your head up because people pull through…

    hey everyone,
i feel so bad for the women that go through this or have scares. my best female friend has gone through terrible insecurities about her breast size. everyone including myself goes through insecurities. i try to help her. we actually help one another. i told her after my bad experience how much she would appreciate what she has if she thought she was going to lose what she has now. she was so bad before to the point she wouldn’t remove her shirt during sex so she tells me. she’s with a loving boyfriend now & has gotten past the insecurity thankfully. i wish they would just come out with a cure for cancer. its so sad. so much money dedicated to curing it. i suspect there is a cure out there but there is so much money involved with research and what not. i hope someone does come out with a cure. oh, i thought i would mention this. i saw a book on tv. this gentleman spoke of natural cures? any way, apparently i believe its certain types of carrot muffins help prevent and remove breast cancer. i don’t know how accurate or have ever experienced it. i have faith in God & different beliefs but it isn’t too hard to believe we have the power to heal ourselves through faith and possibly natural cures. i would recommend looking into it. its amazing when ever someone is sick, doctors jump to meds of all sorts. in my experience i was prescribed anti-depressants i refused to take before given cream. i will never understand it other then the medication companies gain millions over the years. anyone ill, keep strong, have faith, and do check into the all natural cure thing. it can’t hurt. all the best everyone. cheers!

i agree with you james…there are a bunch of natural rememdies or preventions out there…i guess it just comes down to what works best for you specifically and your specific condition

My beautiful, funny, loving cousin (whom I mentioned in this episode) has lost her battle with cancer. She has 3 kids, all under the age of 10.

She was mis-diagnosed initally, and by the time it was detected, it was too late.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE follow your instincts. Get a 2nd , 3rd, 4th opinion. This is your health. PLEASE get regular checkups, and do not be afraid to check yourself.

oh my god frolic!! you never even told me this! i am so sorry to hear that…that is a real shame!
i will give you a hug at yoga in an hour :)

Caro, I’m so sorry to hear that.

My aunt had a mis diagnosis for breast cancer, as well.

I hate to say it, it happens a lot. I don’t want to blame the industry buuuuut only recently (aka - within our lifetimes) the medical industry only just started doing separate trials and tests on women, instead of just on men.

My heart goes out to your friend and her family, is there anything we can do to make it easier on them? Make a little basket of goodies for the little ones?

    You’re right, Ladies, get checked.
