I think that there is avery fine line beween cliche and romance. I always find that if i use some elements of traditional romance (roses, or home cooked meal or whatever) mixed with something completly new and exciting, it turns out to be an even better time than simply being bogged down in cliche.
It would be fun say if you and your significant other both have wanted to try skydiving, but have never gotten up the courage to do it. You sign up both of you to do it. That way when you get home to make dinner you have a new topic of conversation. I also think a home cooked meal can be more fun if both people make it.

The best indicator that most guys don’t get romance is the creation of “Steak and Blowjob Day” on March 14th.
Billed as the male counterpart to Valentine’s Day but really is “Embarrassing Stereotype Day”
Shoe Shopping and Martini Day anyone?
i would LOVE LOVE LOVE shoe shopping and martini day!! haha
that might be the best holiday i have ever heard of!!
