Inter-Racial Dating
A controversial coupling of males and females around the world dating a lover of another colour! What is it about inter-racial couples that make so many of us turn our heads and stare?
Many of you may know by now that I love the Asian persuasion! Having grown up in the itty-bitty metropolis of Kincardine, Ontario our population of 6000 didn’t exactly boast many other races or ethnicities. In fact, I could probably count on one hand how many “other-coloured” families there were. You may not find it surprising that people back home were shocked to find out that I was with a China man! I heard it all from the “are their penis’ really as small as they say?” to the “what? Did Toronto run out of white boys for you?” This was a man I was in love with and people were asking the most outrageous questions, not because of what type of person he was but because of what race he was.
The fact of the matter is inter-racial dating shouldn’t be that big of an issue. Canada is one of the most multicultural countries in the world, its part of what makes it such a beautiful country to live in. So why are we so quick to condemn those who are different? A quick Google search of “inter-racial dating” will show you forums discussing the issue and it’s unfortunate to see so many people against it.
Personally, dating outside my race has opened up a whole new world of dating options! Why limit myself to Vanilla ice cream when Ben & Jerry were kind enough to offer me Banana Split and better yet, JamaicanMeCrazy?!
Don’t miss out on your Mr. Right (…or Mr. Right now) because he wasn’t what your mama expected him to look like. Open your eyes to new possibilities. Learn from and love our multicultural counterparts. Embrace the many colours of men God intended us to embrace. So hop up on that Italian stallion, ride that knight or get craziasian with an Asian. Mix ‘n match ladies…not sounding like such a bad idea after all, eh?!
xoxo,
Sabrina

Wow, surprised this episode hasnt provoked more responses!
First of all, thank you twentysomething girls for doing this topic. I think it definitely an essential discussion to have in this day and age as we continue to just blend colors… in not too distant future, almost everyone is going to be a mix of ethnic backgrounds anyhow!
But a big thank you to Sabrina, for sharing her thoughts and experiences on this subject. As an Asian American man, I can reaffirm that mainstream media has thrown many hurdles at us as far as projecting unfair and untrue stereotypes.
It’s frustrating that Asian men are continually portrayed in movies, television and in the media as a whole as being unsexy and less desirable. I think that even for many open-minded women, they are subconsciously affected by this and in turn it affects who they perceive as being attractive.
So even a small thing like Sabrina speaking her mind in this episode is helpful to the cause, and greatly appreciated. Sabrina we love you back!
Agreed…I thought people would have a lot to say on this topic but apparently not!
MJ- Thanks for responding, this is my first official blog as a TS girl and it’s something I feel strongly about. It’s such a shame that media and stereotypes so strongly affect our opinions of others.
Here’s hoping people pull their heads out of their asses sooner rather than later. I can’t imagine being so closed-minded ever again!
xoxo
Agreed,
i am a half white (Irish, English, Scotish) & Half Japanese male. i think interracial relationships are fine. i mean, i am the product of that. you see white males & asian women or black males & white women. its all about the love not the ethnicity that counts.
“all you need is love”
i love that song
lmao, speaking of love songs - is it popular with women to have romantic music, ie. babyface or boys 2 men during intimacy? those two have always worked wonders for me. haha, but i am behaving myself from now on. all the best ppl.
i don’t think it always has to be lovey dovey music…not even sure i would like the babyface or boy2men playing while i was fooling around with someone, i normally play old rock to be honest so i guess that is what i would play during sex haha….but i am sure some girls like the soft romantic music but sometimes it can be a little much…and not every girl wants every bedroom romp to be dripping with romance and flowers and sweet slow music….i suggest checking out the Beatles song “I want you (she’s so heavy)”….that is a wicked sex song cuz it sounds so raw and sexual….or maybe its just me
no no no. what you really need is some The Doors tunes and some old Bob Dylan! It’ll give you slow and fast and DEFINITELY some raw energy!
sabrina11,
just curious, what do you like about asian guys?
sabrina11,
do you find that you relate/get along well with asian guys?
are you currently dating an asian guy?
I love that I never considered dating out of my race an option, but after dating an asian (my first non-white partner EVER) I loved opening my eyes to new things…to not letting a racial difference stand between me and my love possibilities…I loved trying something new. That may be the extent of my love for asians but it opened up a whole new world of possibilities and i love that! No more, no less!
To answer your last question, no I am not currently dating an asian but one of the loves of my past was chinese….and awesome!!!!haha
it’s cool that you’re so open-minded. So, basically Asians is just something new for you. Are you into dating more asian guys? Or, moving on to other ethnicites like blacks, latinos, indians?
but I really don’t see much taboo in whites dating asians though. Aside from the questions you get from your friends. Maybe more if it was white and black.
wow who knew one relationship could open your eyes to so much? still i’m glad your first asian experience was so positive.
I was actually wondering to find out what made you like asians so much since you seem infatuated with them.
guess what i’m asking is what made him so awesome?
what made him so awesome compared to white guys?
sabrina,
are there any noticeable differences between dating asian and white men?
These questions could not have been condensed into one paragraph at one time? lol…………………….
sabrina was at a cottage this weekend, she should be back on the site in a day or so
tarty,
I feel as though you are digging to find a difference between asians and white when there isn’t one. My ex-asian was like my ex-white but with different skin colour. I am not “infatuated with asians” as you put it, simply grateful that at one point in my life I would never have found one good looking and thanks to my ex, I do now.
Clearly you don’t watch the show often, since I have been quoted several times talking about my current boyfriend, so no, I’m not interested in dating anyone else regardless of their colour because as Jill likes to put it, I’m “half way down the aisle.”
Cheers
